nokia handsets.jpgNokia have unveiled five new mobile phones aimed at emerging markets. The 1280, 1616, 1800, 2220 Slide and 2690 With Nokia Life Tools will have features tailored to their intended markets.

The 1280, 1616 and 1800 models will have an anti-scratch cover, dust-resistant keypad, FM radio support and flashlight. Pretty basic, you may think, but paired with a battery life of 22 days on standby, all are fairly compelling features for use in rural areas with little access to electricity.

The Nokia 2220 Slide and Nokia 2690 will also have email access though Ovi Mail. The Nokia 2690 will also feature the interesting Nokia Life Tools service, aimed at helping those in developing areas receive services to improve their quality of life.

The new handsets will launch in Indonesia in December of this year.
