Iphone apps.jpgWell it must be doing something right, for today Apple announced that over two billion apps have been downloaded from its App store. Its press release also stated that Apple has sold over 50 million iPhones and iPod touches and that there are now over 85,000 apps for iPhone owners to choose from.

“The rate of App Store downloads continues to accelerate with users downloading a staggering two billion apps in just over a year, including more than half a billion apps this quarter alone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “The App Store has reinvented what you can do with a mobile handheld device, and our users are clearly loving it.”

Well there’s no disputing the success of the apps but is 50 million iPhones and touches a good figure? Apple has clearly had a huge amount of success with the devices in the US and the UK, but whether other new markets like China and India will warm to its handsets remains to be seen.
