Ixos updates iPod Disco Speaker – and cuts the price

Rather like the Wizard of Oz, the Queen’s speech, crackers and sprouts, the XMI608 Disco Cube from Ixos is cutting a niche for itself during the festive period. And this year it’s back, equipped for the latest generation of players.

If you missed it first time around, you’ll not be surprised to hear that it’s a speaker for your iPod, complete with flashing lights in time to your tunes, not unlike the dancefloor from Saturday Night Fever. There are two side-firing speakers and a subwoofer on board, volume control and the option to turn off those flashing lights.

And there are cartridges to cope with all iPods, with the exception of the new nano – but one will be available free of charge before Christmas. It’s available now from John Lewis and PC World, priced at £59.99.
