Looks like hardware manufactures have another stick to beat each other with in the HD wars, with Samsung’s Blu-Ray player becoming the first HD player to pass Simplay’s rigorous testing.
The award means that the BD-P1200 measures up to Simplay’s interoperability and performance standards.
Simplay Labs tests compatibility by not just checking the interface meets the specification but by also conducting real world testing with a range of HD equipment. Simplay Labs’ interoperability testing involves plugging devices into a suite of other HD devices available on the market.
Products that pass are allowed to carry the Simplay logo, making it easier for consumers to ensure their kit works together.
More info on the testing is available from Simplay’s site.
