Sennheiser has unveiled the PXC 450 NoiseGard 2.0 high-end noise-cancelling headphones, which it says offers portable “cloak of silence” – keeping background noise out and your music in.

The PXC 450s have a number of stand-out features, including (unusually) full use as headphones even if your battery dies, power from a just a single AAA battery and a talk-through button that lets you hear conversations and announcements without having to remove the headset.

The NoiseGard 2.0 electronics promises to remove 90% of external noise and both the electronics and battery are inside the headphone unit, so no excessive clutter hanging down. There’s also touch-button electronic volume control on the headphones, soft fade-in and fade-out with power switch, along with drivers and audio technology from the top-end of the Sennheiser hi-fi range.

If you’re after a pair, they should be on sale from April, priced at £299.99.
