CES 2007: Sony adds to MiniDV camcorder range with DCR-HC47E, DCR-HC45E/37E and DCR-HC27E
If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to one of Sony’s new HDV camcorders, there’s some newly-announced Sony MiniDV models to tempt you – the DCR-HC47E, DCR-HC45E/37E and DCR-HC27E.
New features include an impressive zoom (up to 40x optical zoom and a 20% wider angle than previous models) and a shooting time of up to 14 hours from a single battery charge. Shooting in low light is also boosted with a new Auto Slow Shutter mode (on the HC47E model only) that automatically boosts minimum illumination performance up to 4lux compared with 7 lux on the previous model.
Both the HC45E and HC47E feature a Handycam Station for easy connectivity with a television or PC plus automatic battery charging. All models feature high quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optics plus Super SteadyShot image stabilisation for clearer pictures.
Sony claims the new models are “more affordable than ever”, but once again doesn’t refer to a specific price point. But as they’re set for a February launch, that should become clearer in the coming weeks.
