rosettastone.jpgRosetta Stone could be the ideal package for anyone looking to develop their foreign language skills. It’s a CD-ROM and online language learning programme that offers 30 languages.

The advantage of using a technological approach is that it’s easier to take a ‘dynamic immersion’ approach – in other words, you learn the language through associating images with words and phrases, and in context, reinforced by voice recognition technology that monitors accent and pronunciation, instead of having to learn from lists and translation.

Anyone can use it if they have access to a computer, and an online account costs just £59.95 for 3 months.

The languages on offer are Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Danish, Dutch, English (UK), English (US), Farsi (Persian), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Pashto, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog (Filipino),Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese and Welsh.
