Evesham has introduced the iplayer – a personal video recorder/digital receiver with real-time upscaling and network access for both browsing and downloading, along with firmware upgrades to keep it up with the competition.

The iplayer has access to all Freeview channels (TV and radio), a 7-day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) and time-shift/one-touch recording onto the 80GB drive, which should be around 70 hours of programming. It also features a real-time up-scaler – up-scaling your SD picture to HD to make the most of your HD-ready TV.

And there’s the networking. Use the iplayer with any ISP to connect to a networked computer or directly to the internet to browse the internet or email. Use the Media Centre function to access video clips, audio tracks or photos directly from your PC or stream/download music and movies directly from the net. It’s also Catch UP TV ready – when this service goes live, you can access TV via the net on-demand – but obviously for a subscription fee.

Available now, you can pick up an iPlayer for £299.99.
