Toshiba has launched the 26WLT66 LCD TV, increasing its REGZA range with this 26-inch HD Ready offering.
It has two HDMI inputs, currently unusual on a lot of HDTVs letalone ones of this size, and has a screen resolution of 1366 x 768, as per its 32 inch offerings. It’s HD Ready and it can’t display a full 1080i or 1080p signal (not enough resolution) but will handle the 720p format currently common amongst broadcasters.
It features Toshiba’s Active Vision LCD picture processing technology, which enhances the four key areas of detail, colour, contrast and movement. Soundwise, there’s SRS WOW audio output.
There’s also a built-in Freeview tuner, and this would make a nice entry TV into the HD era for a smaller living room or bedroom – 26 inch is quite respectable but if you’re likely to get into the higher-end HD content sooner than later, you may be frustrated by the 720p limitations. The 42WLT66 42-inch full 1080p model might be better for this, but more expensive of course.
Price to be confirmed – it’s not listed in the Toshiba online shop yet.
