London gets week of games

Games Industry bodies ELSPA and TIGA have announced a week long fiesta of video gaming for the capital. The London Games Festival is set to take place for the first time on the 2nd of October this year. Alongside ELSPA and TIGA, the British Academy of Film and Televison Arts (BAFTA) has generously decided to elevate the games sector to as high as film and television, now that it’s worth £1.35 billion, and will presenting its own awards as a climax to the week’s festivities.

EA’s Northern Region VP/MD, Paul Jackson stated that “BAFTA’s move to give video games equal status with film and television reflect games’ contribution to artistic innovation and new forms of story telling”.
