South Korea goes 4G

While 2004 is set to be a big year for the mobile phone industry with the launch of a host of 3G services from Vodafone, Orange and other networks, we have got a long way to go to keep up with Koreans. For the South Korean government is now organising the auction of the country’s 4G frequencies with a view that services will be up and running by 2005.
Apparently the government has been disappointed with both 3G and Wi-Fi initiatives in the country and is going all out to develop a service with speeds of up to 1mbps (that’s twice as fast as most Britons’ broadband connections).
