Streaming media box Roku is getting a new Seagate channel for accessing videos you actually have on your own computer. Brilliant.

Roku is best known for working with streaming media services, such as Netflix, YouTube and Sky’s Now TV. But what if you want to watch a video file you filmed on your phone? Or one of those films you downloaded completely legally?

The company has partnered with disk makers Seagate to enable owners of Seagate Wireless Plus or Seagate Central personal cloud storage to access their content on their Roku through a special channel on the device. Apparently the drive will even support cover art for music playback and thumbnail images for photos. Lovely.
