3D TVs still aren't quite taking off in the way the tech manufacturers had hoped for, but there's no sign of Hollywood slowing down their support for 3D content, what with the higher ticket prices they can charge for the privilege of adding a little depth to your screening.
But this year, for once, that's no bad thing! A whole host of madly-exciting 3D movies are hitting cinemas over the course of the next 12 months. From the long-awaited sci-fi return of Ridley Scott with Prometheus to Marvel's all-action The Avengers flick, returning characters like Judge Dredd in Dredd and ol' Spidey in The Amazing Spider-Man, there'll be plenty of reasons to pile on the popcorn in 2012.

Prometheus
First up, Prometheus, a film this self-confessed Alien fanatic would literally spit acidic blood to see. Ridley Scott's return to sci-fi and the universe he helped shape in Alien, little is known about this dark thriller. Is it a direct Alien prequel? Does it revolve around Alien's mysterious “Space Jockey”? Does it really offer a glimpse at the creation of mankind? Who knows! What we do know is, with Scott at the helm and a cast including Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron, this will be one 3D spectacle not to miss. OUT - 1st June 2012

One of the leading producers of The Hobbit has stated himself that using "3D in the film was not an option."
Now I hope the producer sticks to his word because I think that 3D is ruining films.
All you have to do is look at the revunue on most of these 3D films to see how much they are flopping in the box office.
