Turn your nano into a retro gaming machine

TrackBacks (1)

Ipodmame Some people really do have too much time on their hands. Not content with having an iPod nano as a rather cool pocket-sized music player, the boffins at iPodLinux have turned Apple's baby into a retro gaming machine.

With some tinkering, they've managed to run the MAME Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator on the iPod. Admittedly, it's limited and only plays Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man on the iPod Nano and 5G player. There is one big problem though - the click wheel. Ideal for finding music and even getting little coloured blobs round mazes - but if you are after an old-style shoot-em-up, it's perhaps not best suited.

You can find out some of the  technical details at http://ipodlinux.org. But be warned - it's heavy on geek speak!
