Archos 97 Carbon Android tablet revealed

archos-97-carbon-android-tablet-0.jpgArchos are expanding their Android Ice Cream Sandwich range with a new line of tablets under the “Elements” name. Set to go head to head with the Google Nexus 7 tablet, the first of the range to hit stores will be the Achos 97 Carbon.

Built from aluminium, the 9.7 inch device weighs 618 grams and is 11.4mm thick.

Under the bonnet of the 97 Carbon you’ll find a 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, alongside16GB of storage space, an microSD card slot, front and rear cameras, and 1080p HD video output via HDMI.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be the OS of choice, waiting for your finger-friendly commands behind an IPS multi-touch screen.

Offering “the latest mobile technology with a new slim and light design” according to the company, other sizes will include 7 and 8-inch tablets, each set at an affordable price and with full Google certification giving access to the Google Play Store and core Google apps suite.

Prices start at £219.99, with the 9.7-inch model shipping in July.
