HTC Touch HD coming to UK on Orange in early November
Orange has announced that it has exclusive UK rights to the HTC Touch HD, arriving here in early November.
Featuring a 3.8-inch high-res (480 x 800) widescreen touch screen, it’s built for multimedia. It offer access to Orange’s own mobile TV service, comes with a five megapixel auto-focus camera, has a full Internet browser, and uses HTC’s TouchFLO 3D user interface (bolted on to Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional).
Other features include a second VGA camera, 512MB of internal memory and SDHC/microSD expansion card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS…
UK mobile networks sign deal to develop mobile advertising
Money men all over the UK are rubbing their hands together in glee as news comes in that the Internet Advertising Bureau has struck a deal with the UK big five mobile networks to develop adverts on your phone and mine. Joy…
Poles not keen on iPhone, actors paid to stand outside stores
It seems the buzz surrounding the launch of the iPhone 3G hasn’t extended to Poland, where demand for the device is so lacklustre that Orange is paying people to stand in queues.
In fact, the news article claims that “actors” are hanging about outside stores. Perhaps they’re paid extra if they do a little monologue about how great the iPhone is?…
Get Orange Broadband, and get a free eeePC 900 16GB
I’m getting really confused now by the plethora of eeePC model numbers. Turns out the 900 16GB is a version of the hugely popular netbook which sits inbetween the 900 and the 901. It doesn’t have the lovely Atom processor, but it does pack more storage than the 900 – an unsurprising 16GB. No word as to whether you get the Linux or the Windows model…
Snag the Samsung Soul in a black – sorry, Midnight – colour with Orange
Following the successful launch of the Soul mobile phone, Samsung has announced a black version which will be exclusive to Orange. Surely they should’ve made an orange version exclusive to Orange? I guess orange isn’t quite as appealing as bog-standard black, though.
Stocking the same brilliant features as the original phone, the Soul Midnight’s casing is highly polished, as are the specs inside. HSDPA internet is the big one, and the 5.0-megapixel camera with LED flash…
The Orange "Dance Charge" – power your mobile through motion
The Orange Dance Charge is a motion-powered kinetic charger full of magnets and weights, designed to keep your phone juiced-up simply from the movement of your arms. How many words do you think we’ll get into this update before resorting to crude references to masturbation?
We’re not particularly excited about what’s clearly a novelty item designed to generate a bit of publicity during the UK’s festival season and help Orange make a token effort to look like it’s a “green” company, but you sort of have to use awesome promotional photographs like this:
It weighs a teeny 180grams…
Orange and Nokia get together for music, gaming, mapping, and ads
Nokia continues to form strategic partnerships with other companies as it seeks to push out its mobile services. The latest alliance is a three-year deal with Orange, which will see ten Nokia handsets added to the Orange Signature range, plus the launch of a range of integrated multimedia services…
Orange boasts it will sell iPhone in at least ten countries, including Switzerland
In one of the shortest, most direct statements I’ve ever seen from a company – particularly where the iPhone is concerned – Orange has announced it is to begin selling Apple’s handset in at least ten countries later this year.
The lucky countries to get the iPhone via Orange are Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Switzerland, plus a number of African markets where Orange already operates…
MDA Compact IV. Sort of exclusive to T-Mobile, running Windows Mobile 6.1 – and out before 3G iPhone?
The MDA Compact IV is only “sort of” exclusive to T-Mobile, as the Compact IV is a rebadged version of the HTC Diamond 3G touchy phone. Which is coming out on Orange this June. Confused? Yes. The hot weather’s not helping, either.
The big features of the MDA Compact are its HSDPA technology for fast browsing and use as a modem, Windows Mobile 6.1 for doing BUSINESS, 4GB of internal storage, a 3.1megapixel camera plus, as is most fashionable these days, a touchable screen. Here’s a big photo of it, as it’s clearly quite a very special phone if there’s been such a flurry of licensing and rebranding surrounding it:
The fully 3G MDA Compact IV will be on sale through…
