The One & Co multimedia coffee table slash media player

Bored of your coffee table? Is its stained exterior and pitted surface embarrassing to you when friends or the social services come round? Then you should UPGRADE. You should GO DIGITAL with this, the quite astonishingly insane One & Co digital jukebox coffee table!

Here’s a picture of it. It’s clearly modelled on the Star Trek: The Next Generation bridge design, with its sleek curves and sturdy central column. “Play that awesome Johnny Cash album again, Ensign Crusher…”

And that’s it. It is, when you think about it, a rather awesome idea. You spend your time in the lounge, so why not have a coffee table…

Kingston Technology are probably not in it for love, but they’ve announced the release of a special edition “Black and White” Mobile Memory Kit, featuring a 1GB microSD card preloaded with a selection of Ricky Martin music, video and mobile phone wallpapers, plus a USB reader.

MWC 2008: New Nokia 6210 Navigator and 6220 classic handsets offer advanced navigation and multimedia functions

Nokia has announced two new handsets boasting a collection of advanced navigation and multimedia features. Click on any of the images for higher resolution shots.

Nokia_6210_Navigator.jpgThe Nokia 6210 Navigator is the company’s first phone to incorporate GPS with an integrated compass, allowing for a much more advanced navigation service for pedestrian use. Bundled with the newly announced Nokia Maps 2.0, the phone utilises an accelerometer (yes, made popular by that other phone) which should allow for accurate guidance based on changes in the user’s orientation. Mind you, I wonder if you’ll have to employ a silly walk in order to ensure that it always works?

Opinion: Creating our own content will never replace traditional media

Jon_smal.gifJonathan Weinberg writes…

2012, the year London is set to host the Olympics and also the year Nokia reckon a quarter of all entertainment will be created and consumed within peer communities. They think that in five years time, traditional media as we know it now, will begin to die out further with personally-created content becoming the must-read and must-watch for Internet users within their friend networks and social community sites.

But I just can’t see it. There’s no doubt it’s becoming more and more popular to make your own videos and post them on the web for all to see, but 99 per cent of it is absolute tosh – like the man who can juggle dogs while standing on his head drinking a glass of water and playing the harmonica! PS: Don’t try that at home, it doesn’t exist and we don’t condone cruelty to animals, I just use it as an illustration…

Tasty Lobster device only a concept…for now

lobstermp3.jpg
Mmmm…lobster…is it too early for lunch? It’s certainly too early for beer. D’oh!

I’m not dribbling over the thought of lobster for nothing, there is actually a prototype dubbed the Lobster, developed by Danillo Mangini. This LCD screen module appears to be whatever you want it to be, namely an MP3 player, GPS, hard disk, camera and even cardiometer for those who care about their tickers…
