Medion has announced the latest in its like of “value” Akoya desktop PCs. The E3300 D offers a decent enough AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 dual core processor (which apparently runs at 2.7GHz), ATI Radeon HD4350 graphics processor with HDMI output, 640GB eco-friendly hard drive, 4GB of RAM, DVD writer, eight channel surround sound and Windows Vista pre-installed.

Connections include eSATA, multi-format card reader, FireWire, six USBs, DVI-I, VGA and HDMI. There’s also the usual array of trial software pre-loaded to bog down the PC from the word go…

Novatech Ion: the ultra-cheap desktop PC with netbook innards

That headline doesn’t sound hugely appealing, if I’m honest, but the Novatech Ion is exactly that — a very cheap desktop PC that utilises processor technology more often found in ultra-portable notebook PCs.

Claiming the Ion to be the lowest cost 17-inch widescreen PC on the UK market, Novatech uses a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of memory, a DVD burner, 5.1-channel audio, and DirectX 9 Intel graphics…

LG KF300 launches on Orange

Up there is the LG KF300, which is launching today on Orange. It’s a flip phone, but it’s only 16.2 mm thick, which I’m sure you’ll agree is rather on the anorexic side. It’s got an extra-large keypad, and dedicated hotkeys for features like the phonebook, message inbox, calendar and alarm clock.

Specs-wise, there’s a paltry 14MB of internal memory, but support for upto 2GB of microSD card-age. It also has a 2 megapixel camera, 2.2″ screen, stereo Bluetooth, and FM radio. It’ll play MP3s, like just about every phone ever, but there’s no sign of a 3.5″ headphone jack.

This phone won’t win any awards for its features, but it’s a reasonably attractive flip phone at a budget price point. It’s available now, for free on a £15 a month, two year contract. If you want it, go see Orange. They’ve got it.
