IMOBILE shows off C1000 3G touchscreen phone watch
The days of strapping ridiculously large blocks of technology to your wrist aren't over, it seems, with the introduction of the IMOBILE C1000 wristwatch 3G mobile. Ignoring the fact that it's yet another accessory beginning with the letter "I",…
3G iPhone with GPS on the way… next year
Just half an hour to go until Apple’s press conference to launch the UK iPhone kicks off, but it seems 3G won’t be on the menu. TheStreet is reporting that a 3G iPhone is being developed, but won’t go on sale until the first quarter of 2008.
However, the silver lining is that the handset is set to include GPS for beefed-up mapping and navigation services. To be specific, Broadcom’s Global Locate is apparently supplying assisted GPS chips for the second-generation iPhone, which should make it quicker to get a signal than pure GPS.
Get set for 3G video dating with The Dating Channel and Gaydate TV
Mobile dating isn’t big yet, but it will be. And I don’t mean people ringing wrong numbers, getting chatting and ending up married either. Although that’s heartwarming, obviously.
No, digital TV channels The Dating Channel and Gaydate TV are launching a new 3G video-dating service. European iPhone could come to Vodafone, but with changes, sources suggest
Rumours continue to circulate about who’ll snag the iPhone in Europe. The latest to surface is that Vodafone will do a European deal with Apple, but not without challenging some of the iPhone’s features first.
According to “sources”, executives at Vodafone aren’t happy about how the iPhone implements YouTube. They would prefer it to operate more like the desktop web version.
They’d also press for the iPhone to synchronise easily with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook — believing many European iPhone users will be high-end business customers — potentially requiring Apple to license the Microsoft Activesync technology to achieve this.
How likely is a Monday announcement of a European iPhone 3G?
Now that the deal with the first US version of the iPhone is virtually tied up, the rumourmongers have turned their attentions squarely to Europe.
Yes, I’ll come out straight away and call it a rumour, because I’m not convinced that Monday will see an announcement from Apple about the European iPhone.
If I’m proved wrong next week, so be it.
Guy Kewney at Newswireless.net has published a story claiming that Apple has struck a rather complicated deal between Vodafone, T-Mobile, and the Carphone Warehouse.
The Top 7 iPhone rumours you haven't heard yet
There’s acres of speculation humming around the iPhone this week, encouraged by Apple’s habit of releasing new info shortly before launch (see last week’s announcements of the iPhone’s boosted battery life and YouTube application).
Apple insider reveals iPhone's secrets
Actually, there are plenty of ‘insiders’ coming out of the woodwork to spill the beans on how iPhone performs – probably more insiders than there are actual Apple employees.
