Steganos launches Internet Anonym VPN to Mac: secure web surfing for OS X
Steganos, the European security and privacy software maker, has announced the release of its Internet Anonym VPN software for the Mac.
The service provides two functions. Firstly, it encrypts and secures the data passed between the Mac and the Internet when using publicly accessible, potentially insecure Wi-Fi hotspots.
It also claims to offer Internet anonymity, by routing all Internet traffic via Steganos’s dedicated web servers.

Robert Alan Soloway: A top 10 spammer arrested
Federal authorities in the US have reported that one of the world's "top 10" email spammers has been arrested. Robert Alan Soloway has been accused of using a network of "zombie" PCs to send out millions of spam email on bhealf of his Internet marketing company, containing details of other companies and individuals duped into taking up his services.
"He's one of the top 10 spammers in the world," said Tim Cranton, a Microsoft Corp. lawyer who is senior director of the company's Worldwide Internet Safety Programs. "He's a huge problem for our customers. This is a very good day."

Google Maps Street View: helpful feature or voyeur's paradise?
BoingBoing reader Mary Kalin-Casey reports that the Google Maps closeup of her house is so detailed, that you can see that her cat, sleeping in the window, is a tabby. Further comments note that a nearby crosswalk has a recognizable woman walking across it, a man spots his neighbor taking out the trash, and one can very clearly see a tollbooth operator at Golden Gate Bridge. Or, if you’re bored, you can watch a strip club entrance until you gather blackmail material. (Unless they have submitted their location as infringing privacy and asked it be blocked.) Google Translate adds new language conversion features to web searching
Google has announced that it’s added new features to Google Translate to make it easier to search for and read web pages in other languages.
Google already offers basic translation services on web pages and language phrases. Their updated system allows anyone to search for web pages in another language, and read the results in their own language.
