Home security company SimpliSafe has announced the launch of its Video Doorbell Series 2, featuring upgraded hardware and proactive deterrence tools.

Priced at $199.99, the new device is designed to capture clearer footage and integrate with live monitoring services to help address potential security concerns at the front door.

The Series 2 introduces several key hardware and software improvements over previous iterations. It offers a sharper 2K video resolution alongside an expanded 150-degree head-to-toe field of view, providing a more comprehensive picture of visitors and package deliveries day or night.

The device also includes enhanced two-way audio, dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, and up to five seconds of pre-event video capture to give users fuller context on triggered events.

To help reduce false alerts, the doorbell features smart detection capabilities for people, packages, and vehicles, alongside customizable activity zones. Furthermore, the Series 2 can be paired with SimpliSafe’s Active Guard Outdoor Protection.

When connected to select professional monitoring plans, such as the Pro tier at $49.99 per month or Pro Plus at $79.99 per month, the system allows live, US-based security agents to view feeds, speak through the camera, and attempt to deter intruders using a built-in siren.

Physically, the doorbell features a weather-resistant matte finish, a black front face, and a white LED ring. Colour-coded status lights indicate whether a homeowner or a monitoring agent is actively using the audio feed.

The Video Doorbell Series 2 is available now on SimpliSafe.com and at select retail partners for $199.99. It requires an existing wired doorbell setup, a compatible transformer, and a SimpliSafe Base Station and Keypad to operate.
