Apple TV prices hiked, Bentley’s Torcal EV unveiled

Apple hiked the prices of all of its hardware products back in June. As we’re all anxiously waiting for the company to make its iPhones more expensive too, in the meantime, it has made two of its services more expensive. We’re talking about Apple TV (previously known as Apple TV+) and the Apple One all-encompassing subscription, which already got more expensive last month for its family and premier plans. Today, the individual plan is getting pricier too. Apple TV is now $14.99 per month in the US, up from $12.99. The annual plan goes from $99.99 to $119.99. GSM Arena 

The UK risks becoming a laggard in the global AI race as crucial telecoms upgrades to harness the technology fall behind rival nations, according to senior industry executives. The infrastructure AI race has centred on the need to build datacentres, and to ensure they have access to the huge water and energy supplies required to cool and supply the computational power to train and run AI models. However, as adoption spreads, the UK’s broadband and mobile networks will be expected to carry an immense volume of AI-related traffic produced by consumers and businesses. The Guardian 

Just as you thought shares in Nvidia, the company that powers the AI revolution, could go no higher, along comes another ultra-bullish statement from Jensen Huang, its chief executive, followed by a great outpouring of buy recommendations from the company’s cheerleaders on Wall Street. “Another beat and raise from Nvidia,” gushed the investment bank Jefferies. “We see a clear path to $1tn [£860bn] plus in revenue [by 2029], supported by robust AI infrastructure demand and higher revenue per gigawatt with Rubin.” Telegraph

A now defunct duo of robots were supposed to be churning out pizzas at a Moto Pizza restaurant in Seattle. However, in May the pair were rendered “basically useless” when their supplier, Picnic, abruptly shut down. Technical support for the robots evaporated at that moment, says Lee Kindell, founder and chief executive of Moto Pizza. He was left wondering what to do with the $160,000 (£118,000), cabinet-like machines and whether buying in pizza bots was really worth it. “I don’t know if I want to do a partnership again because of the failures,” he says. Bentley’s first-ever all-electric model, the Torcal, is reaching the final stages of its development. Around 60 prototypes are currently racking up test miles around the world, and Auto Express has hopped aboard one of them for a passenger-ride preview. The Torcal will be officially revealed in September, with first deliveries to customers planned for spring 2027. The five-meter-long sports SUV will sit below the Bentayga in Bentley’s range and aims to attract new customers to the brand. It’s not intended to be an electric Bentayga alternative: its brief is to be a model all of its own, with a unique character and attributes. AutoExpress
