Anker SOLIX unveils Solarbank 4 Pro as UK plug-in solar law goes live

Anker SOLIX has officially unveiled its new Solarbank 4 Pro in the UK market, with Tech Digest among the attendees at the exclusive launch event held at the iconic OXO Tower in central London.

The launch coincided with new UK energy regulations announced today that allow plug-in solar power for UK homes, enabling millions of renters, apartment residents, and homeowners without suitable roofs to connect compact solar micro-generators directly to a standard wall socket.

Speaking to attendees at the event, Aaron James Darvill, Strategic Sales Director for Anker SOLIX UK, highlighted how the regulatory shift opens up massive opportunities for domestic green energy. Darvill explained that while plug-in solar panels currently provide an accessible entry point, pairing them with advanced home storage is the logical next step to unlock true savings.

“Until now, British homeowners were actually restricted; they were limited in what they could do with their solar options,” Darvill told the audience. “What’s changing this year is that we are finally bringing something to the market that allows a wider community to be energy independent.”

Maximising solar power

Addressing the historical pain points of the UK market, such as long payback periods, Darvill detailed how the Solarbank 4 Pro tackles these challenges head-on. The system features a modular design starting at a 5,024 Wh base capacity and scaling up to 30 kWh by supporting 1 to 5 parallel units, allowing households to expand storage as their energy needs grow.

Backed by official technical specifications from Anker SOLIX, the unit is equipped with advanced hardware to maximize energy conversion and storage longevity. This includes four independent Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) channels with a maximum PV input power of up to 5,000W (1,250W per channel) and a max PV input voltage of 60 VDC, allowing it to extract the maximum possible power from up to 12 solar panels under changing UK weather conditions.

Powered by Anker’s InfiniPower technology, the unit utilises automotive-grade LFP cells supporting a 314 Ah rated capacity, delivering 10,000 charge cycles and a 15-year product lifespan. 

Intelligent management

“Complex technical data is simplified into intuitive visual symbols, making the status really easy and clear for someone who’s never even had an energy storage device before,” Darvill claimed, pointing to the unit’s streamlined unibody display and AI-driven energy management platform, Anker PowerOS.

The system operates across a temperature range of -20°C to 55°C, features an IP66 weather-resistant ingress protection rating, and provides flexible output capabilities, including an 800W / 2,500W on-grid AC output and a 2,500W off-grid backup terminal.

Thanks to dynamic tariff integrations with over 870 energy suppliers, including Octopus Energy, the system can automatically optimize charging during off-peak and discharging during on-peak hours. According to company specifications, this capability can help a typical UK household save up to £770 annually, achieving an estimated payback period of roughly 3.3 years.
