Arcade: Paper.io 2

At the beginning of the year, quite a lot of us spent a significant amount of time trying to achieve 100% on this annoying yet addictive arcade game.  Simply using your finger to control a coloured square, and the aim of the game is to increase your claimed area. But it’s not as easy as it sounds, as other players are trying to do the same and stealing your spot! This fantastic sequel from Voodoo will have you trying to conquer the largest territory for hours.

Adventure: Roblox mobile

With over 100 million downloads on Google Play alone, Roblox is a multiplayer game that is a great choice for all ages and abilities. With a Minecraft feel, Roblox is a fun and virtual world that provides players the opportunity to delve into a role-playing adventure.  It is a cross-platform game, so all your friends can play together whatever device they are using. Plus, their child-friendly chat system and increased security for younger players means that parents can rest easy!

Shooter: COD Mobile

Pushing the limits of mobile gaming, COD mobile is certainly a win for Activision and it easily was one of the most popular games in 2019. When this was first dropped, many gamers spent hours working together as a team in their impressive Battle Royale mode. There are lots of different modes available, with single-player and multiplayer options, frontline frenzies, and Season 2 even added Zombies. Free to download with optional purchases in-game, the mobile version offers familiar gameplay at your fingertips.

Word: Words with Friends 2

Word games are one of the best ways to keep your brain active and your vocabulary growing, and this free to download game will certainly get you thinking.  Words with Friends 2 continued to be a favourite throughout the year. This Scrabble-style game is one of the world’s most popular word games for the mobile, with thousands of five-star reviews online. It is fun and competitive, and now features more ways to challenge your friends than ever before.
