Forget the Teasmade! Ember has announced the UK debut of a temperature controlled mug, alongside integration with the Apple Health app. The Ceramic Mug comes in white, available from a range of retailers such as Selfridges, and black which is exclusive to Apple stores in the UK.

The Ember Ceramic Mug gives users complete control over their drinking temperature for hot beverages (between 50°C – 62.5°C) right down to the exact degree, giving people more time to enjoy their drink in the perfect state. Just a few degrees can completely transform the taste and enjoyment of a hot beverage, claims Ember.

Users simply connect to the Ember mobile app to remotely set the desired drinking temperature. They can also  receive notifications when that temperature is reached, save pre-sets for favourite hot drinks, integrate with Apple Health and more.

Alongside the launch of the Ceramic Mug in the UK, Ember is also releasing a new update to the Ember app, which features an integration with the Apple Health app. This allows users to track their caffeine consumption throughout the day, as well as set maximum daily caffeine intake measurements.

The app will send a notification when the set amount is reached, so consumers can choose to make an alternative beverage choice. Users will also be able to use the Health app data in order to understand how their caffeine consumption affects their heart rate and sleep patterns, contributing to an overall picture of health and wellness.

Says Clay Alexander, Founder and CEO of Ember:

“Ember was founded on world-class design and a belief that temperature control can transform our day-to-day lives. As an obsessive tea and coffee lover, there’s nothing I appreciate more than enjoying an amazing hot drink at the perfect temperature, so I am extremely excited to be bringing Ember’s Ceramic Mug to the UK as part of this global launch. Our integration with Apple Health is a pivotal moment for Ember, as we help our customers to track caffeine consumption.”

The Ember Ceramic Mug is embedded with multiple temperature sensors and a microprocessor-controlled dual-band heating system, which will precisely maintain a chosen drinking temperature.

A fully charged Ember Ceramic Mug will keep a drink at the desired temperature for approximately one hour or, if used with the included charging coaster, all day.

Made with stainless steel and a durable ceramic coating, the Ember Ceramic Mug maintains beverage temperature on the inside, while remaining tactile and gently warm to the touch on the outside.

The Ceramic Mug automatically wakes up when the hot beverage is poured in and remembers the last preferred drinking temperature so you can quickly enjoy your hot beverage with ease. When not in use, it simply goes to sleep.

The UK launch follows its debut in the US, which saw the mug being named as one of TIME magazine’s best inventions of 2017.

Launched just in time for Christmas, the Ember Ceramic Mug will be available in the UK for £79.95.
