peex-rX-white-bg2.jpgFed up of people talking all the way through gigs or having your enjoyment ruined because the venue is too echoey? Here’s a possible solution. It’s a wearable device and app that uses augmented reality (AR) so you can enjoy your very own version of the concert.

Called PEEX, it’s billed as a live music platform which allows concert-goers to experience live music like never before. Elton John is the first artist to sign up and is using the technology for his supposedly final global tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road.

PEEX actually has a two-part offering: PEEX LIVE and PEEX RELIVE. PEEX LIVE enables music fans to create their own enhanced five channel mix of the live concert sound at the same time as remaining truly immersed in the energy of the performance.

This is done thanks to wearable AR technology, the PEEX rX (the stethoscope looking device pictured above) in conjunction with the app. The PEEX LIVE experience allows fans to create their own perfect mix of the live concert sound – in real time.

Meanwhile the second part, PEEX RELIVE, allows fans to purchase audio downloads of past live shows in PEEX’s immersive interactive audio format, via the free PEEX app.  Fans will also be able to download future shows recorded at PEEX LIVE concerts.

From September 2018, PEEX will be powering select dates of Elton John’s tour, which kicks off in North America on 8 September, with the PEEX LIVE experience.

PEEX will also be recording the shows on Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which will later be available in the PEEX RELIVE store, so that fans will be able to relive the experience again and again in the same five channel, mixable format.

To mark the launch, PEEX is offering music fans the chance to purchase and download five never-before-released recordings of classic Elton John shows via the free PEEX app – through the PEEX RELIVE offering.

With the mixing desk in the app (see screenshot above), fans can boost Elton’s vocals, turn up Davey’s guitar solos and tailor their sound to their preference during playback. PEEX RELIVE will also be releasing additional live shows from Elton John’s archive on an ongoing basis.

The PEEX app is currently available to download for free in the UK, US, Netherlands, Germany – from Apple’s App Store (iOS) and the Google Play Store (Android).

Fans will be able to access a complimentary demo track of the classic Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting. Additional countries such as Australia and Canada will be added throughout summer 2018.

Says Sir Elton John:

“Throughout my 50-year career, playing live has always been so important to me. I am passionate about giving my fans my best possible performance and making sure they get the best possible experience.

“Over the last 3 years I’ve been working with the talented team at PEEX, who have developed an incredible new technology that will revolutionise the way fans listen to live music. Make sure you check it out.”
