Microsoft has announced plans to let players choose exactly how power-hungry their Xbox One console is.

Xbox Newswire explains the choice, which will presumably be coming in a forthcoming system update. Essentially, it’ll be a choice between “Instant On” mode, which will let you resume Xboxing in a matter of seconds – as well as download system updates and game purchases even when your console is switched off, or “Power Saving” mode, which will only keep minimum functions running – and in the process will save you around $6-$15 USD a year on your electricity bills. Oh, and the latter might be better for the planet too.
