Whilst we might be despairing at 273,000 people wanting to re-instate Jeremy Clarkson, another petition is also gathering steam: 91,000 people (at the time of writing) want a new version of Modern Warfare 2.

The game is perhaps best known for the controversial "No Russian" mission.

The 2009 shooter was released for Xbox 360 and PS3 and is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the Call of Duty series. Ramez Zahra, who started the petition, says:

“I speak for every one when I say that Modern Warfare 2 was one of Activision’s best game. Just a fun & enjoyable game that really gives you that nostalgic feeling. The guns, maps, kill streaks were just incredible. At the moment mw2 for the ps3 & xbox is just overrun by hackers. If they remaster the game, & sort a couple things out (e.g noob tubing)it would make a lot of people happy.”

Whilst there has never been any talk of Activision remastering any of the previous titles, the petition must surely be quite tempting: All the company would have to do is up the resolution on the textures, make it a digital download on the PSN store and Xbox Live, and make a killing on discounted digital sales.
