Speaking to Mobile News CWP Three’s Phil Sheppard said that the plan is to use the new 800mhz spectrum that the company recently acquired to launch voice services on 4G – which should mean for the first time ever we’ll be able to make phonecalls that sound as good as other voice recordings – no more crackly old phone lines.

Vodafone has also been test 4G voice calls – and claims that the technology will actually save your battery.

In the same piece, Three CEO Dave Dyson also spoke about the proposed takeover of O2 by Three, which is currently in the negotiating stage – saying that the takeover wouldn’t affect the agreement Three has with EE to share phone masts. He also said that he’s in favour of focusing network expansion on greater reliability, not faster speeds.
