Another week, another new smartphone gets announced. And this week it’s Sony’s turn, with the company unveiling its new Xperia E4g.

Sony says the new E4g will be simple to set up and use, will feature fast 4G connectivity and will have a battery life of up to two days.

“Xperia E4 set out to bring many of the premium features people expect of Sony to lower-tier devices; Xperia E4g brings that same quality and ease of use – but with super-fast 4G LTE connectivity” says Sony Mobile Communications vice-president of value category business management Tony McNulty.

“With simple set-up and unrivalled two-day battery life, we believe both models represent value for those who want premium Sony technology and experiences often only associated with high-end devices.”

Sony says the Xperia E4g will make photography easier with Auto scene Recognition, which automatically recognises and optimises capture settings for up to 52 scenarios.

The company says that the phone will feature Sony’s minimalist Android skin, but will also have the Simple Home interface.

The E4g will be powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad-core processor and a 2300mAh battery. It will be 133 x 71 x 10.8 mm and have a 4.7-inch display, 1GB RAM, a 5-megapixel main camera and front-facing 2-megapixel camera, and will run Google Android 4.4.4.

It is set to go on sale in April for around €129 (£95).
