The Guardian reports that since the introduction of the ability to remotely kill your phone using Find My iPhone and Android’s Device Manager smartphone thefts have dropped by an astonishing 50% in London (and 27% in San Francisco, and 16% in New York).

As the Guardian notes, Microsoft is similarly planning to introduce a kill switch to its phones by this July – and the news comes as some places are introducing laws to force phone makers to include a kill switch.
