British Astronaut Tim Peake has tweeted a photo of himself today wearing a Raspberry Pi t-shirt – and a reminder that the tiny computer will be blasting off with him when he goes up to the International Space Station.

Its all part of the “AstroPi” competition, which is encouraging kids to submit code to be run on the Pi whilst in orbit. The Raspberry Pi itself will be attached to a board full of sensors, and given that all Peake will have to do is switch out the SD card, he could conceivably safely run a tonne of different experiments completely safely, without messing up the ISS’s important computer systems (y’know, like the one that supplies oxygen).

We’re looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
