It seems that Microsoft is going native – and far from being a rival competitor in a fight to the death is slowly learning to love Apple, as the latest update to MS Word for iOS adds iCloud support.

Following the update, users of the Microsoft Office apps will be able to save and back-up their files to Apple’s iCloud service. It is a significant move because it means that Microsoft isn’t forcing users to use its own equivalent service, OneDrive.

The move also follows in quick succession from the release of Office on Android, and making an investment in Cyanogen, and is a further signal of Microsoft’s increasing comfort using platforms that aren’t Windows. Does this further suggest that the company is slowly abandoning Windows Phone as a platform?
