It’s safe to assume that Samsung is currently hard at working figuring out what its next flagship smartphone will be – but can we expect the handset, which we expect to be called the Galaxy S6, to be announced in January?

According to Know Your Mobile, citing Korean sources, the handset could be announced as early as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, which is due to be held between January 6th and 9th next year. If that’s the case, here’s hoping you don’t have an S5 waiting under the tree just two weeks earlier.

Previously expectations had been that we’d first see the phone at Spain’s Mobile World Congress in March.

Know Your Mobile also notes that the rumoured spec of the S6 includes an Exynos 7420 octa-core processor, a 5.5in QHD display and 3GB of RAM – as well as a 20MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

We’ll keep you posted.

  • I have so many questions for Samsung’s galaxy lineup…will the S6 sport an aluminum frame? If so how does it position relative to the upcoming A7? Is the S series still slotted above the A series then? Why not just upgrade all future S-series devices to aluminum frames and get rid of the A series?
