Amazon has announced that its first phone, the Fire Phone will be coming to the UK at the end of the month.

The phone, which like the Kindle Fire tablet is based on a Google-free and Amazon specific variant of Android has some interesting features to differentiate it from the crowd, including four cameras in the corners of the device for face tracking (so it can adapt the UI to where you’re looking), “FireFly” scanning, which will let you save phone numbers and buy books just by taking a photo of them, and of course, tighter integration with Amazon’s various services, including Instant Video.

The phone will apparently be available exclusively on O2 – and it’ll be free if you sign up to a £33/month contract (with 2GB of data). It’ll also be available on O2 Refresh. It’ll be available from the 30th September. So will essentially be going head to head with the iPhone 6.
