The rumour mill is cranking out some premium rumours today: with signs pointing towards mid-October for an iPhone 6 release.

According to MacRumours, an internal Apple Store meeting named Tuesday October 14th as D-Day, with the official unveiling due almost a month earlier – on September 16th.

Previously, we’d been under the impression that September 19th was the most likely release date.

The new date though sounds about right. The 4S was previously released on October 14th in 2011 and the 5 and 5S were released in September in their respective years – perhaps waiting a couple of extra weeks for the 6 could be down to rumoured production delays?

Apparently the release would come in a busy month for Apple – as it is when the company is also expected to unveil the iWatch at long last, along with new iPads and Mac computers.

Obviously this is unconfirmed at this stage – so do take it with a pinch of salt.
