YouTube celebrity PewDiePie apparently makes $4m/year
Warning: If you’re over the age of… maybe 30… you might find this intensely depressing.
According to the Wall Street Journal (by way of MCV), YouTube’s most popular star, a bloke called PewDiePie makes $4m/year.
PewDiePie, psuedonym of 24 year old Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg found fame on YouTube for… well, if I could figure that out, I’d be a much smarter person. As far as I can tell, he just plays videogames and shouts at them.
At the time of writing he has over 27,000,000 subscribers for doing stuff like the above video.
There is still an on-going debate amongst academics over whether Kjellberg’s YouTube account officially, once and for all, proves Karl Marx wrong- as he wrote in Das Kapital that “Nothing can have value without being an object of utility”.
Nice work if you can get it.
