Have you ever been so annoyed by anything that Guardian columnist and BBC Weekly Wipe presenter Charlie Brooker has said that you have wanted to shoot him in the face?

Well, now you can – and it’s all perfectly legal.

Brooker – whose journalism career began as a video games writer on PC Zone magazine – has come full circle and appears as a playable character in the new World War Two sim Sniper Elite 3. And even better, he’s playing a Nazi.

Brooker appears in a bonus DLC available only to those who have pre-ordered the game, according to the Guardian.

He plays a German field officer who is part of Hitler’s entourage, and follows Hitler throughout the DLC and even offers Hitler salutes. If you want to take down Brooker you can with a single bullet and you’ll even get a good look at his innards via the the game’s signature X-ray KillCam.

Brooker visited Oxford-based developer Rebellion in April to have his voice (which will appear in the game as a series of radio recordings) and likeness motion captured. And it’s believed that Rebellion has included a secret achievement in the level to encourage gamers to assassinate Brooker’s character as creatively as possible

Foreshadowing his game appearance, Brooker wrote a Guardian column in 2013 about his obsession with sniping games.

He wrote: “It’s taken a while to admit this to myself, but it’s true: I will never tire of hiding in the mountains, blowing people’s heads off from a distance with a high-velocity rifle.

“I enjoy sniping more than I enjoy leaping onto platforms, collecting stars, discovering treasure chests or any of that other bullshit video games force you to do when they’re not letting you assassinate anonymous strangers on the horizon, which is what God wants video games to do. It’s why He invented them.”

Sniper Elite 3 is set to release on June 27 in Europe and July 1 in North America for PS4, Xbox One, PC and last-gen consoles.
