Ubisoft confirmed last night that not only is a sequel to surprise hit Far Cry 3 on the way – but we’ll be getting it on November 20th this year, on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

According to the company, the game is taking a “sharp turn” away from the setting of Far Cry 3, swapping tropical islands for cold mountains in the Himalayas:

“Far Cry 4 is set in Kyrat, an untamed region currently ruled by a despotic self-appointed king. But don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the achingly beautiful views; Kyrat is a wild land full of perils. Once again, players will be able to craft their own stories as they travel through this exotic open world teeming with wildlife – using their wits along with an assortment of powerful weapons and diverse vehicles.”

Sounds interesting. This will be welcome news to fans of the previous game – which Ubisoft also revealed has sold an impressive 9 million copies.

Personally, I’m hoping they retain the base attacks – in which dotted around the map were small enemy forts, which you would have to take one by one. Each was like solving a puzzle as you had to figure out the best way to take it out – and for my money, I thought this was more enjoyable than the actual narrative.

Ubisoft will apparently be showing the game off during their forthcoming E3 presentation, so tune in then.
