Dope-dealing game tops Apple iTunes chart
Apple appears to have relaxed its usual tight restrictions on apps – how else to explain the drug-pushing sim Weed Firm sitting at number one on its App Store charts?
According to The Register, Weed Firm allows users to imagine life as a herbal wholesaler. Players are invited to build contacts in the underworld, beef up their production line and punt ganja to a variety of ne’er-do-wells.
The game’s principles don’t differ a great deal from the challenges experienced by the character played by Mary-Louise Parker on the TV series Weeds.
Developer Manitoba Games says of Weed Firm: “Follow the story of an expelled botany sophomore Ted Growing as he inherits a growing operation and expands it. Learn to grow weed, plant new varieties to increase your yields, expand your customer base and interact with the characters to become the biggest weed dealer in town.”
The company insists that it does not condone smoking dope or making money out of dealing drugs. Its disclaimer reads: “The plot of this game is solely a work of fiction and should be viewed only as such.”
