Bethesda, the publisher behind Skyrim only rarely puts a foot wrong – which is why its worth checking out the trailer for its latest game: BattleCry.

BattleCry is a 32 player online team action game that clearly takes its visual cues from 2012’s Dishonored – think medieval but with a twist of steampunk. This should come as no surprise as one of the creatives behind the new game is Viktor Antonov, who also worked on Half Life 2.

Apparently the game is set “where gun powder has been banned following a cataclysmic world war at the dawn of the 20th century. Traditional warfare is now a relic of the past and all conflicts are settled head-on by elite teams of chosen warriors in sanctioned WarZones. Trained and bred for battle they face off for the glory of their nations.”

We’re thinking that it looks like it could be essentially a shooter… but without guns. So we’d guess you can expect deathmatches, a levelling system and small maps to maximise the action.

The game is due to hit the PC next year.
