At Gadget Show Live in Birmingham I got a chance to check out the new Peugeot 308 and the new on-board computer. The car – which it is safe to say is geared towards every day usage rather than performance – has a number of clever features to improve the driving experience.

Watch the video to find out more about how most of the car can be controlled through the touchscreen on the dashboard:

The dashboard itself is very limited – everything happens on screen. What’s (literally) quite cool is the advanced options on air conditioning – so you can make one side cooler than than the other. There’s also a clever safety feature in terms of blind spot detection – a small red light will come on, on the wing mirror (where you’d be looking anyway) if there is a car in your blind spot.

The car can also hook up to the internet for traffic updates and the like – but unfortunately rather than use your phone’s bluetooth to tether for data, you have to buy an extra Peugeot dongle that plugs into one of the USB ports on the car.

Check out the video to find out more.
