Here's why we're 100% sure that GTA 5 is definitely coming to PC

The rumour mill is in overdrive, and gamers are looking closely at every piece of evidence: are Rockstar preparing Grand Theft Auto 5 for a PC release. Here at TechDigest we’re going to make a ballsy prediction: Yes they are. And here’s why.

Obviously if we’re wrong, then there’s going to be lots of awkward backtracking as we pretend that this post was never written. But if you do a Sherlock and look at the balance of probabilities (or take a Baysian approach, as statisticians might say) – all signs point to a resounding “YES”. So here’s some reasons why…

1) Mentions of the game are popping up all over the place

The news doing the rounds today suggests that a PC version of the game has appeared listed on Amazon’s France and Germany stores. It could just be a guy in the stock room having a joke… but surely this listing would come from somewhere?

This isn’t the first time a PC version has been mentioned either. Apparently it was listed briefly last year before being pulled. And the same report claims that Nvidia told an investors call that the game would be released soon… and you’d imagine that Nvidia may both know about these things, and not want to lie to the people who fund them.

Similarly, in an unearthed bug log from when the game was in development, it apparently refers to a PC version of the game on 170 separate occasions. Maybe 170 bugs is what has delayed the game so far?

2) Why would Take 2 games block alleged GTA 5 PC video footage?

Last week the Metro reported on some footage posted to YouTube that allegedly showed the PC version running. Unfortunately, the video has been taken down so we can’t show it to you now, but what’s interesting is that it was taken down following a copyright claim by Take 2 Games, who publish GTA 5.

Now you might just think this is them protecting their intellectual property… but then why do they let gamers post thousands and thousands of hours of videos of GTA gameplay to YouTube? Why allow the walkthroughs and the let’s play videos? Why would they be so worried about the footage if it was just the game running on Xbox or PS3? If the footage were faked entirely, why would they want to cover up something that wasn’t even real in the first place?

Like Watergate is it not the original footage, but the cover up that has caught them out?

3) Do businesses like making money or not?

GTA is one of the biggest games, if not the biggest game in the world. The game has made more money than the entire world music industry combined since release… and call me crazy, but… don’t you think Rockstar and Take 2 might like actually, y’know, making money? Perhaps they’d like some more.

The demand is clearly there. Forget freedom of expression or poverty – this petition from gamers calling on Rockstar to release the game on PC has garnered 660,000 signatures at the time of writing – and that’s 660,000 who can be bothered to sign a petition.

So be patient – the game is coming soon! And if we’re wrong… we’ll eat our virtual hats.

  • GTA5, is not worth playing. First the controls suck, ( you have to run in a mini circle to turn around just like all GTA games. ). Then Rockstar, seems to be more worried about how the players are acting in the game and trying to control the way they play the game. Then they are concerned about actually fixing the issues the game itself, missing money, Missing ammo, numerous holes in the game map, constant drops from the network, which is a game issue and not an issue with the actual network. Rockstar was very quick to pull out the glitched cars, ( alien car that was moved into the online game from the offline game, The car has no special abilities, not very fast, and absolutely no advantage in having the car except for status among friends. I was playing the game, and a “crew” attacked me, there was about 5 or 6 of them, that kept killing me over and over, I placed a sticky bomb on the ground ( several of them, and waited for the attack again. When they got close I blew them all up at once, which resulted in me getting a “bad sport” for blowing up all 5 of their cars. I was banished to a bad sport server where I could not play gta 5 with my kids for 48 hours. RockStar seems more concerned with Making people play the game the way they want you to play. Rockstar also had an issue with hackers giving out billions of dollars. BEFORE to the hack, I had close to 5 million dollars, 4,754,000.The hackers gifted me over 876 Billion dollars. After Rockstar fixed the hack, and removed the billions of dollars from the accounts I was only left with 500,000 dollars. I emailed them and told them of their error, their response was an email link telling me that the glitched money was removed from the game. My 4.75 million was NOT glitched money. I have played hundreds if not thousands of video games, I was playing gta before it came out, ( cops and robbers), I helped program the GTA san andreas ONLINE multiplayer. Creating mods, Admin Island 2, as well as making scripts for house menus, and other cool car stuff. Rockstar has basically failed with this game, do yourself a favor, and buy saints row and avoid this game and its poor management.
