netflix-profiles.pngNetflix from today will begin rolling out a new Profiles feature that will allow multiple users of a single shared Netflix account get individually personalised recommendations.

Each user will get their own profile, which they’ll be able to log-in to before viewing shows, allowing for individual tastes to be recorded across a household. I share an account with my girlfriend and am not quite as enamored with period dramas as she is – this feature will let me keep on getting just the right amount of sci-fi movie recommendations that I like.

“We continually innovate and are proud to deliver an even better, more personal Netflix experience,” said Neil Hunt, chief product officer.

“Now everyone in your home can have their own Netflix experience, built around the TV shows and movies they enjoy. No longer will your Netflix suggestions be mixed up with those of your kids, a significant other, roommates, or house guests.”

A gradual rollout, some members will begin seeing the new profiles feature roll out as soon as today, while Netflix promise all users will get the new feature within the next few weeks.
