Considering iPad keyboard cases are ten-a-penny, it’s a big claim to go around calling your entry into the crowded market the “ultimate” one. But that’s exactly what Belkin have done with their £99.99 Ultimate Keyboard Case for iPad.

First revealed back in CES 2013, it’s designed for full-size iPads and is said to be the slimmest and lightest on the market at 6.5mm thin and 481 grams.

Aiming for a “laptop-like typing experience” with its TruType keys, the case features magnetic sensors that will automatically switch the keyboard on or off if an iPad is or isn’t detected, designed in a way that the iPad clicks in at the most comfortable angle to use.

Connecting over Bluetooth 2.0 with the iPad, 160 hour battery life is claimed for the rechargeable built-in juice pack, which will retain charge for 6-months of standby inactivity.

Shortcut keys and media playback controls are also featured, with a case design that’s intended to improve the audio output of the iPad’s speakers.

“We believe the Belkin Ultimate Keyboard Case will reinvent the iPad user experience,” says Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management at Belkin.

“It gives the iPad all of the functionality of a laptop, while maintaining the sleek appeal of a tablet.”

Expect to see this case in stores by May.
