tamagotchi-life.jpgBlimey, it’s turning into THE week for digital pet revivals, isn’t it? Not only did yesterday we bring you a hands-on with VTech’s new KidiPet range, but now we also bring you news that the one-and-only original digipet range, the Tamagotchi, is to be given a new lease of life in app form.

Headed to the iPhone and Android devices, Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. (Love is fun everywhere) will be developed by Tamagotchi owners Bandai, and will be an update of the original physical toy concept.

Bringing touchscreen controls to the Tamagotchi experience, you’ll now be able to feed and play with Tamagotchi’s using taps of your finger, seeing the weird little pixellated creatures from their birth to the end of their inevitably short lives.

As well as offering the traditional Tamagotchi experience that required your constant attention to prevent the pets from kicking the bucket, the new app will introduce a less intensive mode that allows you to save the status of your pet, meaning you wont have to sweep up digital doo-doo every five minutes.

No release date for the app has been given by Bandai yet, though the new website for the app can be visited at tamagotchilife.com.

If you prefer a more tactile, digital pet in your pocket, be sure to check out our hands-on review of the KidiPet Touch range from VTech.
