Sony Xperia Z set for 28 February UK release date as Three opens pre-orders

sony-Xperia-Z-Press-01.jpgSony’s CES 2013 crowd-pleasing handset, the Sony Xperia Z, will launch in the UK on 28 February, as confirmed by the Three network.

Opening up their pre-order page (which you can visit by clicking here), the network are the first to put a firm release date on the promising smartphone.

“We’re extremely pleased to offer the Xperia Z for pre-order from the 1st February,” announced Sylvia Chind, Head of Devices at Three.

“Coupled with our highly competitive price plans and no surprise out of bundle data charges, this premium smartphone brings you the ultimate internet experience all on our Ultrafast network”.

Through Three, the Xperia Z will cost £34 a month with an upfront cost of £69 on the Ultimate Internet 500 plan. You can also grab it for £36 a month with an upfront cost of £69 on The One Plan. Both contracts include All-You-Can-Eat mobile data.

If you’d rather go down the Pay As You Go route, that’ll set you back £449.99 with a top up charge.

Sony’s Xperia Z handset features a 5-inch full HD Reality Display, running at a full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920. Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 2, using similar technology to that which goes into Sony’s TV sets, is included too. It’s also Sony’s first handset to pop in a quad-core processor, using a 1.5GHz variant backed up with 2GB of RAM.

Running Android Jelly Bean 4.1, the Xperia Z also sports a 13.1MP camera with 1080p video recording capabilities, with a 2.2MP front facing camera onboard too. All the usual conenctivity options are onboard too (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS) as well as super-fast 4G data connectivity and NFC capabilities. 16GB of storage comes as standard which can be expanded via the microSD card slot.
