fujifilm-xf1-retro-compact-camera-2.jpgFujifilm have today expaneded their X-series camera range, adding the retro-styled Fujifilm XF1 to their ranks.

Featuring an aluminium body and faux-leather grip, it packs a 2/3-inch, 12-megapixel EXR-CMOS sensor and EXR processor into a slick, pocketable frame.

Starting up in just 0.55 seconds, it uses a new f/1.8 Fujinon lens with a manual 4x optical zoom (25-100mm), controlled by a zoom ring. When switched off, this zoom ring can fall back inside the camera frame, further reducing its size.

Boasting a focus fix of as little as 0.16 seconds a minimum shot-to-shot time of 0.8 seconds, the camera also has optical image stabilisation that shifts one group of the four lens elements in order to reduce blur, and a macro mode that can shoot as close as 3cm from the subject.

Complete with a 3-inch 460k-dot LCD screen, it’ll come in three colours (red, black and red), with eleven creative filter options: pop colour, toy camera, miniature, high-key, dynamic tone, and six partial colour options (capturing black and white snaps plus one selected colour: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple).

Costing roughly $500 in the US, we’ll update with UK pricing and launch info once we get it.
