motorola-intel-announcement.pngAn invite for a Motorola event has landed in Tech Digest’s inbox today, suggesting that the company are to announce a new Intel powered device for the UK on September 18th.

“Let us take you to the edge” teases the Intel Inside logo-touting invite, asking yours truly to “Join Motorola Mobility for an exciting announcement.”

With few details to go on, sensible bets are being placed that this could be the launch event for the Motorola Razr M. Almost a year to the day since the original Motorola Razr was revealed, and following a brief 13 days after a scheduled Motorola event takes place in New York on September 5th, rumours are rife that a Razr-successor is on the way.

Could the Razr M be powered by Intel’s Medfield chip, currently seen at work in the Orange San Diego? It looks likely, though this is at odds with previous rumours that the device would be packing a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor.

Other rumoured specs include the inclusion of Android Ice Cream Sandwich, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, G connectivity and 8MP and 3MP front and rear cameras, capable of 1080p video capture.

With just a few weeks to wait, we’ll have all the fine details soon enough, so keep your eyes peeled. One things almost certain though – Intel chips are coming to Motorola’s top-tier devices.
