motorola-motosmart.jpgMotorola have offered a helping hand to smartphone buyers sticking to a tight budget, offering up the tempting £79.99 (see update below) Motorola Motosmart Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) handset. Measuring 116 x 63.5 x 11.2mm and weighing just 115g, it’s a nice balance between reasonable specs and an almost pocet-money price.

Also available on £7 per-month contracts from Carphone Warehouse and T-Mobile, the 3.5 inch device has a 480 x 320 resolution screen, powered by a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor.

512MB of RAM should be enough to keep multiple apps ticking over nicely, though the 3MP rear camera and measly 165MB of internal storage space is symptomatic of the handset’s budget status. Storage can however be expanded by up to 32GB with a microSD card. A 1400mAh battery should see the phone survive a day’s worth of moderate use.

Motorola are also highlighting the smart MotoSwitch software onboard, which tracks your favourite contacts, songs and apps, and pushes them to the homescreen without any need for customisation on your part.

Spot this one in stores from July.

UPDATE:

Word just in from Motorola that the wrong pricing for the phone has been circulating:

MOTOSMART will be available on T-Mobile from the end of July, free on a £7 per month, 24 month plan, and for £99.99 on pay as you go.

Still very reasonable, no?
